ANTI-DOPING AGENCY MALAYSIA
In 2003, the Ministry of Youth and Sports signed the Copenhagen Declaration on Anti-Doping in Sport. This declaration was drafted and agreed by member countries at the 2nd World Anti-Doping Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark in March 2003.
This declaration acknowledges the duties and responsibilities and supports the efforts of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the World Anti-Doping Code. In November 2006, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ratified the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport 2005 after receiving cabinet approval on 2 August 2006.
In May 2007,The Ministry of Youth and Sports has signed the World Anti-Doping Code acceptance document. The Malaysian Anti-Doping Agency (ADAMAS) was launched under the supervision of the National Sports Institute (ISN) (administratively) as an Anti-Doping Unit. ADAMAS officially operates as a National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) according to the definition of the World Anti-Doping Code. Responsible for the implementation of comprehensive anti-doping tests at all levels;
Be a pillar of leadership in handling current issues and have an effective communication strategy as well as an effective program in dealing with the symptoms of doping in sports;
Responsible for the development of comprehensive educational programs;
Establish strong working relationships at the national and international level;
Cultivate awareness and understanding of the role of ADAMAS and the principles of doping-free sports in society;
Contribute to the government's initiative in strengthening the integrity of sports in Malaysia.
Compliance with anti-doping conventions, regulations, procedures and guidelines
Anti-doping tests (urine and blood tests) on athletes.
Cooperation and strategic relationships with government agencies, private sector and international bodies
Management of applications for the use of prohibited substances for medical purposes for athletes (Therapeutic Use Exemption, TUE)
Education, prevention and awareness for athletes, coaches and the community
Advisory services from various aspects regarding anti-doping (law, medicine, sports science, nutrition, practice and others).
